I was In this town that looked familiar but it also looked super fake, like the town in Edward Scissorhands. I was with this groups of people and we were at a bar, we were smoking weed and drinking and stuff. I was sitting at the bar on a stool when someone said something that made me realize that they didn't like me or want me there at all. I cried and left and went next door to this really quiet restaurant. It was dim and a little spooky, but calm. It had three tables full. One with an old lady in the back, on with an old man at the front by the windows, and a couple right in the middle on the room. I sat down and cried silently when the old lady came up to me and said "it's me! ". I was so confused, but we left and went on a walk together down the dark empty street under the stars. She said I looked a lot younger last time she saw me, and that she had been a boy as well. I immediately thought of my three dead dogs from my waking life. I think it was my most recent dog that died last year by a car. I think he visited me in my dream as an old woman. After I figured out who she really was, the town caught fire by a big dragon, I think it was red and yellow, I couldn't really tell. The fake friend group came and found me standing with the old lady in a Nursery. The nursery was completely portexted from the fire and the chaos, and the old woman I was with stayed, and I ran out of the nursery to go with them and help anyone I could. I was now back in the crumbling restaurant, it was empty and the roof had caved in. The whole thing was on fire, and I was in the fiery building trying to pick up the pieces of my old peaceful sanctuary while the fake friend group laughed at me, then I woke up
Your dream is rich with symbolism and emotions that reflect both your personal experiences and internal struggles. Here’s a detailed interpretation based on the elements present in your dream:
The town resembling Edward Scissorhands indicates feelings of nostalgia and a yearning for a simpler, yet fantastical, time. This façade signifies a longing for a safe space that feels comfortable, yet is tinged with artificiality, perhaps pointing to feelings of alienation in your current relationships or environment.
Being in a social setting where you felt unwanted suggests feelings of insecurity or inadequacy in groups. The act of consuming alcohol and smoking weed could symbolize an attempt to escape from reality or cope with underlying anxiety. Your sudden realization that the group did not want you there reflects a fear of rejection or not belonging, echoing the deeper vulnerability within interpersonal dynamics.
Transitioning to the quiet, dim restaurant represents a shift from the chaos of social expectations to a more introspective space. The setting being described as “a little spooky” may reflect your apprehensions and fears, but also the comfort of solitude. The three tables could symbolize different aspects of your life or varying perspectives on isolation and companionship: the old lady perhaps representing wisdom, the old man representing experience, and the couple signifying connection.
The mysterious old woman claiming “it's me!” seems to be a significant figure for you. As mentioned, your association of her with your deceased dog indicates a strong emotional connection to this relationship. Dogs often symbolize loyalty and unconditional love, so her appearance may represent your longing for that comfort and companionship as well as a yearning for the innocence of youth. Her comment about your youthful appearance suggests a reminder of happier times when life felt more secure.
The dragon symbolizes a powerful external threat or emotional upheaval. Fire often represents transformation, passion, but also destruction. The town catching fire signifies that your sense of community or security may be undergoing upheaval. The chaos surrounding you reflects the inner turmoil that may be present in your life—perhaps a sign that you are confronting something significant that's causing emotional distress.
The nursery being untouched by the fire symbolizes a safe haven amidst chaos and indicates that some aspects of your life (childhood, innocence, nurturing) remain protected, despite external challenges. Choosing to leave the old woman, whom you began to connect with, to help others shows a sense of responsibility and an instinct to nurture despite your own pain, reflecting selflessness and hope.
Returning to the now-dilapidated restaurant signifies a confrontation with your emotional state—attempting to salvage what once brought you comfort has led to a realization of its destruction. The laughter from the fake friend group may embody the external judgment or criticism you fear, amplifying feelings of inadequacy.
Overall, this dream invites you to explore themes of loss, belonging, and the process of emotional healing. It suggests a significant transformation is taking place within you, possibly relating to grief from the loss of your dog and reflecting on your relationships with others. Embracing the wisdom from your past (the old woman and the memories of your dogs) and confronting the realities of the present may help you navigate your feelings of displacement and self-worth. Your subconscious encourages you to find peace in loneliness while cherishing the bonds and memories that still shape you today.
